  2024-04-01

Liver plays a pivotal role in metabolism of xenobiotic compounds, such as environmental contaminants and drugs. Some of these compounds generate hepatic damage and impair its function. It was well-known that 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) could induce pathological changes in mouse and ra

  2024-04-01

Similar to V1, the temporal neocortex of mammals, including the primary auditory cortex (A1), is densely innervated by 5-HT fibers originating mainly in the dorsal raphe nucleus (Campbell et al., 1987, Harding and Paxinos, 2004, Törk, 1990), and the major fauc of 5-HTRs are expressed throughout the

  2024-04-01

sVRPs were more sensitive to ABT-702 than MSRs. This result agrees with previous reports that the activation of A1 receptors more potently inhibits sVRPs than MSRs (Nakamura et al., 1997, Otsuguro et al., 2009). Importantly, sVRPs are thought to reflex C-fiber-evoked nociceptive transmission. Nocice

  2024-04-01

Until now, five muscarinic receptor (M1-5) genes have been cloned, but, M1-3 receptors are functionally recognized in the lungs. Smooth muscle contraction is mainly mediated by M3. M2 may also participate in the contraction via Gi protein which leads to a decrease in cAMP. On the other hand, M2 is l

  2024-04-01

Although ACE genetic variance does not influence the level of bradykinin significantly, the bradykinin level tends to be affected by ACE inhibitor therapy used by patients. ACE inhibitor reduces the ACE activity that may lead to the accumulation of serum bradykinin. The level of bradykinin tends to

  2024-04-01

The role of DHT in early teleost embryogenesis is not entirely clear or established, however additional studies that treat fish embryos to DHT or to specific srd5a inhibitors at critical stages of development (i.e. prior to sex differentiation) will shed light on the early functions of this androgen

  2024-04-01

Regulation and pharmacology of mPGES-1 mPGES-1 (16 kDa, 152 amino acids) is a trimeric integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum with each monomer containing four transmembrane domains (Samuelsson et al., 2007; Sjogren et al., 2013). The three active site cavities are located at the

• Axl has been reported to mediate cell cell adhesion

  2024-04-01

Axl has been reported to mediate cell-cell adhesion and sphere-growth [11], [18] and to be important for metastasis to secondary organs [12], [14], [20]. We found an Axl-dependent CCRCC-ability of sphere-formation and repopulation after non-adhesive growth. Axl-inhibited cells could not attach to ea

Accumulating data suggest that ROS trigger autophagy but, in turn, autophagy reduces ROS levels [23]. Our results are in agreement because 27-OH mediated autophagy induction interms of LC3 II formation and Beclin 1 protein expression was suppressed by treating the promonocytic cells with the antiox

  2024-04-01

The 2.10Å resolution cocrystal structure of ACL in complex with citrate indicates that the carboxyl (COH) groups of citrate forms a network of H-bonds with hydrophilic residues surrounding the ACL citrate binding domain (CBD) (A). The - carboxyl group forms a salt bridge with the guanidine moiety of

Conclusion Acknowledgement This study was supported by NIH/NINDSR01 NS036812-16. Introduction Stroke is the leading cause of disability and the fifth leading cause of death in the United States (Writing Group et al., 2016). On average, every 4 min a human dies of stroke (Lackland et al., 2

  2024-04-01

Two major categories of arginase inhibitors have been distinguished (Fig. 3): the first category comprises synthetic arginase inhibitors, which have been developed from the substrate l-arginine [35]; and the second category includes inhibitors derived from natural products [36]. The category of synt

Apelin Discovered in 1998, apelin was initially identified as the sole endogenous ligand for the APJ receptor (Tatemoto et al., 1998). Apelin-77 (pre-pro-apelin) is the precursor for various pharmacologically active apelin isoforms (e.g. apelin-12, -13, -17 and 36), and it shares 75–95% sequence

  2024-03-30

AP-1 activity is increased by MAP kinase stimulation in different cell types (Whitmarsh and Davis, 1996), while MKP-1, the enzyme that catalyzes the dephosphorylation and inactivation of MAP kinases in the nucleus, inhibits AP-1 (Rössler et al., 2008, Rössler and Thiel, 2009, Mayer et al., 2011, Thi
